Nelson Rodrigues' Universe and Dramatic Work
The Brazilian Student Exhibit Section of the PQ07 celebrates the opportunity for the first time in history, to count on the participation of the most important Brazilian scenography schools. Taking into account the curator’s proposal of working with asingle national author, the Brazilian scenography schools investigated, each one according to its particular criteria, the dramatic work of Nelson Rodrigues, considered today the most important Brazilian playwright of the twentieth century. These scenic proposals are developed according to the contemporary perspective that absorbs and multiplies traditions, reconfigures conventions, going from the classic Italian scenic boxes to the on-site occupation of urban and non-conventional sites. Also to investigating other performative forms of Brazilian culture, like the Samba School (Escola de Samba). The scenographic investigations were developed to introduce one of the most important foundations of the Brazilian modern theatre that continues to open the doors for contemporary creative thought.
