Rookie Jeté
Rookie Jeté Different from our exhibit at PQ ’03, here we are expanding the collection of work. We encouraged not only university theatre majors, but also students from all design-related disciplines around Taiwan to join this competition for the PQ ’07. Considering the nature of the different training that students have received in design, they are carrying out different and unique ideas regarding the text, the stage, and cross-cultural aspects of theatre design. They are truly the new generation of theatre design, and we hope they can make the big leap with their creative work. Therefore, we titled this event Rookie Jeté with the intention of encouraging young design majors to develop innovative ideas in this new era of the global village, where everyone is connected. Domestic competition In preparing Taiwan’s set-ups for the Student Section at the PQ’07, TATT (Taiwan Association of Theatre Technology) has accomplished one of its most difficult tasks – the cut-throat competition for both Student Section and SCENOFEST. It was hoped, with this domestic competition, to give the students, beside their school projects, an important opportunity to practice their talents and experiences. Students willing to participate in PQ’07 had been requested to complete a time-consuming and mind-burning journey which included the primary seminars and the finals. We also divided the competition into three sessions – Aristophanes’ The Birds, Open Subject, and Exhibition Show Room Design in the response to PQ’07. Those students who have been recruited will appear at Student Section and SCENOFEST of PQ’07 with - not only their exciting work to share, but also our most sincere blessings and highest expectation!
