Same Place, Different Work

Six buildings in Spain that have taken on a new function. After spending some time being closed, abandoned and deserted, former factories are reopened as cultural centers catering to the descendants of the men and women who used to work there.

• Naus de Sagunt -

Additional information: The old iron and steel industry workshops of the city of Sagunto, transformed into a theatre. Architect: Julián Esteban Chapapria
• Coma Cros -

Additional information: Textile factory converted into a theatre, cultural centre and museum of water.
• Naves del Matadero -

Additional information: Former Madrid slaughterhouse, today a design centre and theatre. Architect: Jean Guy Lecat
• Teatro de Navalmoral de la Mata -

Additional information: Since March 2011, the old supply market has been a new theatre. Architect: Matilde Peralta
