Signals
The myriad signals that criss-cross our planet speedily transmit information to us, pleasant or otherwise. Within this cat’s-cradle of minute-to-minute transmissions there are subtler signals that can be detected in the background: The signals of cultural continuity. Against the noise of global economical – scientific-technological explosions, these older signals continue to help advance the human race. For this national exhibition a selection of artist Boris Kudlička’s work covering the last four years is presented. Examination of Kudlička’s work reveals spectacular images of a fragmentation of situations placed into the theatrical space; fragments of reality similar to a cinematographic expression. These images are not strictly bound to text, allowing for additional creativity. Expression created by the selection of materials, stage properties, space, time, movement and light is supported by the employment of modern visual and sound media. These media then further amplify the metaphysical expression created by the design concept and installation. A synthesis of elements is achieved, as is a poetic simplicity. Kudlička has shaped new visions in stage design by utilizing various means of expression. His bold design solutions are themselves a potent signal of a new energy running through contemporary Slovak stagecraft.
The artist creates new stage-design visions by employing the above means-techniques receiving and transmitting signals from space to space - from the internal to the external
