Australian Hybrids - Student project

A tribe of human/animal hybrids that are visually intriguing and beautifully grotesque to represent the intermingling of different cultures in our society. Each creature, individual to the next, just as each Australian citizen is unique, visually unified through colors and textures that embrace our true identity and represent the ideal patriot. Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts: Werner, Albracht and Hodgkinson are third-year costume students at WAAPA. Interested in making theatrical costumes and garments, they enjoy pushing the psychological boundaries of the mind, an idea that is elicited in themselves and their audience.

Additional information: Molly Werner, Holly Albracht and Jessica Hodgkinson are currently second year costume students at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts. Molly and Holly are originally from Perth while Jessica is from Sydney; they represent the dynamic youth of Australia. Interested in making theatrical costumes and garments they enjoy pushing the psychological boundaries of the mind, an idea that is elicited in themselves and their audience. Coming from three very different combined cultural backgrounds of British, Irish, American and Australian, they are using the idea of tribes to share a part of themselves and question their identity.
