The Slovak Thematic Exhibition "Homage to Stage Design" presents the works of stage designers with awards at international exhibitions since 1936. Numerous prominent costume and stage designers created the visual element of Slovak theatre in close connection with European cultures. These artists accepted the conditions of the beginnings of professional theatre in our country as well as the most progressive tendencies of Modernism in European theatre. Slovak stage design was enriched and stimulated from its beginnings by Expressionism (Hradský), Cubism (Fulla) and Surrealism (Vychodil). They were integrated in highly originál works and became the part of European theatre of 2oth century. The Exhibition shows the connections between the founding generation and their followers who also influenced the present development of stage design. Their names are known from the PQ as well as from others international exhibitions.
The Exhibition presents:
Ludovít Hradský (1902 - 1973), Ján Ladvenica (1898 - 1948), Eudovít Fulla (1902 - 1980), Ladislav Vychodil (*1920), Ludmila Purkyňová (1928 - 1990), Stanislava Vaničková (*1927), Helena Bezáková (*1936), Vladimír Suchánek (*1934), Štefan Hudák (*1942), Jozef Ciller (*1942), Tomáš Berka (*1947), Mona Hafsahl (*1948).
