Egypt

The exhibited works were made by seven Egyptian stage designers. They were selected to exhibit because their scenery and costumes had great appreciation and acceptance from both audience and art critics. Their work demonstrates unity and great integration between plot and visual aspect of the production on stage.

• Hazem Shebl

Specialization: set designer, lighting designer, Stage Set Designer
Additional information: Freelance scenic and lighting designer and full time tech-nical director at the Department of Performing and Visual Arts at the American University in Cairo. He graduated from the Academy of Arts, the Higher Institute of Theatre Arts, Department of Stage Design. Creates visual images on stage by integrating the scenery with waves, rays of still or moveable lights.
• Haggag Mahmoud Hassan

* 1964
Additional information: He graduated from Academy of Arts, Drama Institute, Stage Design Department. He works as a stage designer at Cairo Opera House. One of the best open-air theatre designers, has the ability to conduct vast spaces with wonderful imagi-native avant-garde techniques.
• Charbawy Mohamed Ibrahim El

* 1961
Additional information: He graduated from Drama Institute, Stage Design Depart-ment. He works as a stage designer at Opera House in Cairo. He is a super-realism designer, and creates pleasant scenery which all can understand.
• Brada Noha Mohamme Said

* 1941, Damiatt
Additional information: She graduated from Faculty of Fine Arts, Interior Decoration Department in Cairo. Works at Ministry of Education, Theatrical Section. Very active and productive artist, uses simple forms and units.
• Mohamed Ali Sakina

* 1933, Cairo
Additional information: She graduated from Faculty of Fine Arts, Interior Decoration and from Academy of Art in Roma. Till 1993 she worked as a stage designer in the National Opera Theatre in Cairo. She leans to abstract forms and shapes in her works.
• Mouhamed Samir Ahmad

* 1938, Cairo
Additional information: He graduated from Academy of Arts, Drama Institute, Stage Design Department. Obtained Doctor Degree (USSR) and Professor degree. He was Dean of Drama Institute. Very good painter and a realistic stage designer.
