GITTE KATH "It was a coincidence that I got involved in working with theatre. It was a coincidence that I got to work with children's theatre and in that way got the opportunity to have the children as audience and to use the children as a tool in my artistic work - whether it is aimed at children or adults. My entrance was 'differenť and my language was pictures." Gitte Kath, scenographer and director at the Mill Theatre in Haderslev is also a textile designer and poster artist. Her meditative poster art is widely known in Denmark and it has aroused international interest at the Biennales and Triennales in Toyama, Warsaw, Lathi and Brno. Her posters make up an important clarifying factor in the theatre work and often have echoes in the scenography. Her posters could be associated with old still-life painting with its emblematic references and trompe-l'oeil images, but also with Modernistic assemblages and surreal object-poetry. With their encounter between reality and objects and the metaphorical, these posters are poetic intonations to the theatrical productions.
