Russia
Over the many years of participation in PQ Russia traditionally made preference for scenography. In the meantime, toward the end of the century national style of set design increasingly showed strong bent toward minimalist form, even to the extent of using empty space, "white sheet" which provides perfect backdrop for a costume that was perceived as an element of the sets and of the general visual expression of a performance. High cultuře of costume design has been a long standing tradition of the Russian theatre and this tradition is carried on by the modern generation of designers. National section of the Russian exhibition features á collection of models of costumes for the productions of the past five years, made in 1:4 scale. The exhibition designér defined the genre and scale of the exhibits. All the rest - constructive solution, type of "model", artistic style, manufacture technique etc. depend entirely on the autors' vision and individuality. The organizers undertook to maximize the geography of the exhibition, not limiting it only to the works of designers from Moscow and St. Petersburg.
