STAVROS ANTONOPOULOS' intention is to present two different works: a medieval drama The Jew of Malta by Christopher Marlowe and an ancient Greek tragedy Bacchae by Euripides, each attempting to show his different approach towards each work - the abstract mood that concerns The Jew of Malta and the overdramatic feeling that the artist believes is required while working on a tragedy from ancient Greek repertory. During the last five years, the Cyprus Theatre Organisation has exhibited a vast range of productions, all reflecting new artistic tendencies that were received with particular enthusiasm by audiences in Cyprus and abroad. To name but a few: Persians by Aeschylus, Ekaterini Cornado by the Cypriot playwright Michalis Pitsillides, Becketťs Happy Days, Edward Albee's Three Tall Women, even celebratory productions About Love and not only Love, a musical based on text and poetry by Brecht, to mark ioo years since his birth. The Independent Theatres of Cyprus have also presented contemporary and new artistic pursuits during the above period.
