LUDVIG HOLBERG: JEPPE OF THE HILL Jeppe of the Hill is a tour-play, that is, a play that can be played in various locations. It can be played in theatres, in a gymnasium - on a floor or on a stage. What characterizes Gitte Kath's productions is that they are played „naked", without drapes and back cloth and that they imply an agreement between the audience and the theatre. Counting Gitte Kath as a director and stage designér, the Milí Theatre has developed an artistic profile of its own. A reconnaissance of human silence and powerlessness has been the motive for a number of the theatre's plays. Iťs the jugglers who are coming to town and they bring the story with them. A popular, narrative, singing theatre-form conquers the stage - a mixture of folksongs with refrain and Bertolt Brechťs epic "verfremdungs - technic." There is a difference between the "now" we share with the jugglers and the "then" as we watch them preparing for the roles of the play and giving out their story to the audience.
