1999 » Brazil » National Exhibition - Stage and Costume Design
Curator: | José Carlos Serroni |
Brazil
The exhibition for the National section at PQ'99 will be composed by the works of six of the most important Brazilian stage designers. All of them have at least 12 years experience of professional work. Among them, five have never taken part in a Quadrennial - José Diaz, Márcio Tadeu, Gringo Cardia, Ulysses Cruz and Fernando Mello da Costa. The assemblage of the exhibition embraces different tendencies, something that is a characteristic of Brazilian stage design. In Brazil, we have been developing works directed towards a classical language, staged in proscenium theatres, experiences that part from the new technological tools and sets projected for alternative found spaces, as is shown here with the project for The Ship of the Dead by Harald Mueller, designed by J. C. Serroni.
