Poland

The main concept of the Polish exhibition is that theatre may exist anywhere. This idea originated during the PQ 1999 and briefly during the PQ 1991. The exhibition illustrates various kinds of solutions of theatrical space: open-air installations, a spontaneous theatre space located at the Renaissance palace square in Krasiczyn, the adapted ruins for multiple use in Zabrze, a modernized chamber in a church basement created for multi-purpose use, a modernized puppet theatre, and a stage located on the sea side. Each of these may be a multi-functional theatre space, where the change of the relation between space and audience is created through scenography and performance.

• Piotr Obracaj

* 1940, Gliwice
Specialization: architect
Additional information: He graduated from the Faculty of Architectury Sllesian University of Technology, Gliwice and from the Faculty of Architecture of tho Gdaňsk University of Technology. He is a member of Board and President of Architecture Commission Polish OISTAT Centre , and is scenographer for dlfferent kinds of television programs and theatre productions, and also creates designs for public buildings. He exhibited at PQ in 1991, 1999, 2007. In 1991 he recieved the Silver Medal for Architecture.
• Anna Mąlag

* 1951, Jawor
Specialization: architect
Additional information: She graduated from the Faculty of Architecture of the Technical University of Gdansk, and from Academy of Fine Art in Warsaw. Since 1992 general designer at the Firm OTO in Warsaw (the planning and equipments for theatres and culture objects). She exhibited at PQ in 1995.
• Romuald Loegler

* 1940, Sokolow
Specialization: architect
Additional information: He graduated from the Department of Architecture of the Krakow Polytechnic School. He is president of the Academy of Architecture Foundation, member of the National Commission of Planning (Warsaw), editor of Architekt magazine, and publisher magazine Architektura i Bisnes since 1992. In 1999, he received his Doctorate in Architecture. The main ideas behind the theatre auditorium, created on the basis of historical and cultural values, were: simplicity, consistency in implementation of a modular order, and universality.
• Joanna Siercha

* 1974, Gdynia
Specialization: architect
Additional information: She graduated from the Gdańsk Technical University, and later studied New Media Journalism and Media Management in the Video Studio Gdaňsk.
• Maciej Wutzen

* 1941, Boryslav
Additional information: He graduated from the Faculty of Architecture, Warsaw University of Technology. His main works include the Theatre Collegium Nobilium in Warsaw, the modernization and extension of the actors' residence in Skolimów and the reconstruction and extension of the Synagogue in Warsaw.
