The New Norwegian State Opera at the Harbour of Oslo
Connecting land and sea, a public platform rises from a fjord. A sculptured landscape voils a direct functional solution. Landmark quality is obtained through a memorable yet discreet silhouette. Tho platform meets the water, renewing coastal conditions in the city centre. Elements of earth, fire, air and water capture distinct spaces. Soft versus hard describes Indoors from out. A sloping roof surfaco has been designed that rises directly from beneath the fjord. It is designed with fractures, stairs, stage roof surfaces and stage-towors as defining featuros to the vast platform that can bo traversed from the sea to tho uppermost levels by the visitor. 1st Prize Alexandria Library, Egypt
