Additional information: Christian Griffoul´s group aims at demonstrating on the basis of the example of two of its performances - Juha and his Donkey and The City of Children - that it is possible to play without any technical facilities, or in any interior or outdoors. In the play The City of Children, for which the old fortifications of the ancient town of Carcasson and its crooked narrow streets form a natural decoration, the story was made up and is played by children. In the play Juha and his Donkey giant and Javanese stick puppets play together and the performance can again be given anywhere, in a gymnasium, cinema or large public dining room. Our aim has been above all to bring to village children the magic of the theatre and to take them out of their every-day environment, provided by the school and the home.
