Cuban stage design, as shown at the Prague Quadrennial 1975, is characterized by a formal variety of styles and modes of expression, which are a witness to varied training and professional experiences of the stage designers.
After overcoming technical difficulties caused by the fact that until the revolution this profession did not in fact exist, even more individual styles and elements will develop, as well as a national style in stage design. The new reality is one of the aims of all our graphic artists.
The participants of the Prague Quadrennial are young artists, graduated of the stage design specialization at the National Arts School, whose work represents a valuable contribution of the revolution to the cultural development of the country.
Cuban artists consider themselves revolutionaries, who identify with the demanding principles which are expressed in the slogan of the Prague Quadrennial 1975; they concentrate their endeavours upon the development and overcoming of themselves.
