Additional information: Born in 1932. He studied architecture at the University of Technology in Budapest. In his quality as research architect he engaged in various projects on several enterprises of the town of Györ. At present he acts as chief of the architecture section of the Research Bureau in the Györ-Sopron district. His previous research activities concentrated on industrial establishments, at present he gives himself up to research-work referring to cultural buildings and other public édifices. His most important works are the ciné¬ ma of Tatabánya, a ten classes schol in Györ, the Hubertus-Restaurant in Sopron, a large commercial house at-Fertöd, the Cultural House at Pápa.
Obrázky z kataloguAdditional information: Born in 1931 at Bozsók. He studied architecture at the University of Technology in Budapest and diplomaed there in 1954. From 1955 to 1957 he continued his studies at the School of Masters, in the class of professional perfection of the Union of Hungarian Architects. In 1962 and 1963 he Nas at work in London under M. E. Goldfinger. In 1964 he was awarded the Ybl Prize for the architectural solution of the television aerial mast in Miskolc. He is a member of the direction of the Union of Hungarian architects, and honorary professor being entitled to lecture. As studio chief at the Research Bureau for Public Edifices (KÖZTI) he has participated in a number of competitions in the field of urbanism and architecture. From his 25 studies having been distinguished within the scope of these competitions the most remarkable one is the project ,to the new National Theatre in Budapest of 1965 (engineer-collaborator: M. Ferenc Vajde). M. Hofer's mogt important works are a school at Gyöngyös, the television aerial mast in Miskolc, a secondary school with scientific blas and the hostel for students from abroad, the Cultural House at Szentendre, the College of Technology in Györ, the administrativě edifices in the centre of Budapest, the new National Theatre, the social residence of the Water Services.

In 1952 he acquired his diploma as engineer-architect at the University of Technology in Budapest where he, for a period of subsequent thirteen years, gave lessons at tne chair for public edifices. Since 1965 he acts at the College of Decorative Arts as professor being entrusted with lectures on public buildings. Due to his notable results in tlhis domain of instruotional work he was in 1964 awarded the Second Degree of the Ybl Prize of Architecture. In 1963 and 1964 he was work at the Construction Office of the London Civic Council (L. C. C.]. Since 1965 he acts as constructional engineer and architect at the Research Bureau LAKÖTERV, and in his capacity as research-worker he has been participating successfully in numerous competitions. His most important projects having been brought into effect are the swimming pool of Kecel, the centre of the town of Szekszárd, office premises, stores, a dwelling- house at Békéscaba, the Cultural House of Orgovány, a large store at Budafok.

He is titular professor at the chair of architecture of the College of Decorative Arts. He is a member of the direction of the Union of Hungarian Archltects. In recognition of his merits in the field of architecture he has been twice awarded the Ybl Prize of Architecture, and in 1970 he was attributed the State Prize for his project to tlhe Cultural House of Salgötarjan. His most important works are the residence of the Federation of Hungarian Miners in Budapest, the residence of the Hungarian Federation of Construction Development (in co-operation), a cinema with a seating capacity of 500 filmgoers at Dunaujváros, the polyclinics at Oroszlány and at Komlö, standardized crēches, the Piszkéstetö Observátory in Matra, the Repose House for retired people at Nagyszénás, the Cultural House at Salgótarjan, the Hotel „Budapest" in Budapest.
