Additional information: Born 1907 in Liepàjà (Latvia). Between 1945-1977 he has been working as chief stage
designer at the South Bohemian Theatre in České Budějovice. Author of the round stage
theatre in Český Krumlov (realized in 1956) on the site of courtyard at Karlštejn castle he
designed a variable theatre space (1968) and a polydimensional theatre device in open air
in Mexico in 1977. He participated in the Prague Quadrennial 1967,1971,1975,1979 and
1987.
Additional information: Born in 1911 at Jaroměř. Graduated from the Czech College of Technology, the chair of architecture and overground workings. After having completed his studies in 1934 he started the virtual activities in the special line of stage design at the then Studio D 35 being attached to he E. F. Burian D 35 Theatre and its team. In 1935 he enduringly joined the D 36 team. In 1938 he published the project to the Theatre of Work with a proposal referring to the Light Theatre Theatergraph. In 1941 he published the project to a new type of a concert building — the Janáček Hall. Between 1941 and 1945 he dealt with theoretical problems referring to scenography, and originated the edition The Library of the Theatre Space wihich continued to be published also after 1946. From 1947 to 1953 he was at work in public functions, and published at that time the results of his activities in the field of theory and research in a number of articles in professional periodicals. In 1955 he published the book On the Small Stage and the ABC of Scenograplhy. In 1957 he was the initiator of the Scenographic Laboratory Establishment (from 1963 onward the Scenographic Institute), where he published a number of professional periodicals, The Scenographic Horizon, The Information News, Acta Scaenographica, The Interscena. Within the scope of these periodicals he has published a great number of experimental projects to theatre buildings, cultural houses and to other cultural and enlightment establishments.
Additional information: Graduated of the Czech College of Technology, Faculty of Architecture. He is rough copy architect being at work in the Special line of theatrical space at the Scenographic Institute in Prague. Within his hitherto existing creation the area of solutions referring to the study and the development of cultural and social buildings predominates.
