Brazilian scenography was inspired by new artistic tendencies. Painter Santa Rosa enriched it with painting problems. It is also impossible to omit the influence of foreign scenographers from Brazilian scenography and costume designs. At the present time the new Brazilian generation forces its own way which is approaching the tendencies of the best European groups. As to this sphere, it is Flávio Império, also an architect, who exploits the stage space with remarkable efficiency and with perfect artistic taste. He manifests the modernism of the young Brazilian theatre at this exhibition.

Additional information: Born 1935. Graduated in Architecture 1961. Post-graduate studies in Urban development 1965, Planning Sociology 1966 and Information Theoiy 1966. Professor of the School of Architecture at the University of Sao Paulo, Awards: Best Brazilian stage design 1963: Sacy (Journal O Estado de S. Paulo), Sao Paulo Association of Theatre Critics, States Governor's, VII Biennial of Plastic Art of Sao Paulo. 1965: Sacy, Sao Paulo Association of Theatre Critics, State Governor's, VlII Biennial of Plastic Art of Sao Paulo. Best Brazilian costume design 1965: Sacy, S. Paulo Association of Theatre Critics, State Governor's. In 1967 he won the Moliěre award (Air France) for the best Brazilian stage and costume designs. He participated as painter at the Biennial of Plastic Arts at Cordóba, Argentina. He published many articles about stage design in different reviews.
