Leavening

Performative art group Geng Beng's work is based on its members' life experiences and various eras of art history. The group works with gender stereotypes, approaching them with sensitivity and understanding, as well as exaggeration and irony.

The group's two performers prefer to act outside galleries with the intention of meeting audiences who are inexperienced with art. The type of space in which they perform and type of audience are important factors affecting live action that directly responds to reality. In their performances the refer to the bizarreness of much human activity and the banality of everyday worries, often expressed as grotesque, simulated situations.
