You always cover the same road. You always stand at the beginning of this road with empty hands. You always catch an idea, even not knowing where from, and in order to keep it alive, you transform it into an abstract drawing in your little pocket notebook and this very act appears to be the first step of your journey. The end of the road is the performance. And when the phantom of the black box is let out, you are at a beginning again and you try to cover the same road again. That is the Machine. Its simple mechanisms work the same way for hundreds of years. Slowly, but surely. The Machine is quite clumsy, sometimes groaning, sometimes grumbling, sometimes whistling, sometimes singing. The knowledge for the secrets, putting the mechanisms of the Machine in motion, are coming down like know-how to the following generations of scenographers. Carefully greased with wine, perseverance and passion, the Machine still works. Regardless of Time, Fashion, or Revolutions. It works with the same cogs and straps. Taking its breath in at the beginning, and letting its breath out with the rise of the curtain. The Machine – it is hiding in its guts a show. The entire mystery of the theatre closed in an old wooden chest.
